Armchair jumping

For the past few days I've been feeling pretty sluggish & strained, didn't complete any running at all.

But other stuff was done this week.
I found out that there are now many more roguelike games, and they are getting closer to my want of a free to play tactics (like Tactics Ogre & Fire Emblem) kind of roguelike. I'm not too worried whether it's going to have an ASCII GUI or what, the gameplay is more important. I'm not a graphics whore. It also means that I'm no longer limited to the same kind of nethack-ish stuff or those realtime ones that come across as a plan view 2D version of counterstrike.

I also believe I can now deal with a random guy who turns up at my stand-up comedy (if I decide to have one) and hurls random insults or random shit questions at me.
One of the best responses IMO is : "I'm paid to make a fool of myself. What's your excuse ?"
and the response to kids is : "I've only got 20 minutes to make a fool of myself, you've got the rest of your life, so just shut up!"

Recently, I've also managed to get back in touch with one of my primary school friends. I was told that my face hasn't changed, and that I'm still easily recognisable.

I things I learnt this week include the photogrammetry triangulation concept (which eventually veered off into orienteering/location triangulation).

That veered off even further into how to use a stick (the shadow), the position of the Sun and the local time on my watch to determine where north/south is.

That eventually became a read-up on wilderness survival, which in turn went to knives, which in turn went to knife making. I suddenly realised that the machinery in my company would allow me to do up the finishing touches for a survival knife. What I would need to do first would be to design and shape the main blade out of a reasonably thick piece of steel. Then I suppose I could sharpen the blade and get it coated in my company. It then dawned on me why permits are required for industrial equiopment.

Also, I went to go virtually visit the the processes that I'm supposed to be good at, 6 Hats (more fun than 6 sigma), and lateral thinking.

And yeah, I was reminded of why I talk a lot of crap (so some say). I shall now vindicate myself.
A 'crap' idea can be dissected into a few concepts, which can be made use of, and used to churn out good ideas. Don't believe it ? Check this out. But I guess not every problem is solved with creative solutions. Sometimes you just got to drill through.

On a side note, I think I should change the design, layout etc. of this page, because I now think this 'tropical' design is more like some kids blanket cover. I might even attempt to make my talking box work properly for IE.
