I just realize that I spend a lot of my work time having to stare at a computer. I also just realized that doing so is really not going to help my eyesight.
I used to pride myself in having (near) perfect eyesight, but eventually, I kind of messed it up, starting with my left eye. This was because it had ocular dominance. The mode of deterioration was mostly rubbing, and an occasional long stretch of some pointless computer game (c'mon, which isn't?).
So now I have a quite blur left eye, which seems intent on focusing on the nearest object (sometimes my eyelash), and fortunately, a still pretty good right eye (Thank God for that!).
However, I think that there is still hope.
Countermeasures to reduce/prevent/reverse:
Reduce brightness and contrast of computer screen to lowest tolerable values.
Sitting >60cm from the computer screen (>5 metres for the telly).
Eye rotations and movement to muscle extremities and other 'exercises' while aboard bus.
Massages for areas around eyes.
Eye distance focusing and peripheral vision object identification & reading while waiting for bus.
Reading with book at >35cm distance.
I hope this will pay off.

Some of the people of today can't see for shit.
